2024 ASTSWMO RCRA Hazardous Waste Corrective Action Training Workshop

June 4 - June 5

The Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (ASTSWMO) is pleased to invite State and Territorial (State) RCRA Hazardous Waste Corrective Action Program staff, a limited number of State Enforcement Staff, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Headquarters and Regional staff, other Federal Agency officials, and other partners to the June 4-5, 2024, ASTSWMO Corrective Action Training Workshop in Charleston, SC. Due to limitations on hotel meeting space capacity and accommodations availability, priority attendance will be given to our members, federal officials, and invited guests.

The Workshop will feature the theme “The Journey to 2030” to reflect progress towards the 2030 goals of the national corrective action program.

Please note that the Workshop is in person and that the planning committee will review which sessions will lend themselves to virtual participation or to being recorded.

Meeting Agenda

Read Draft Agenda

The Workshop is structured to provide a forum for information-sharing and dialogue among participants. Workshop sessions, a mix of plenary and concurrent sessions, have been developed with both new and more experienced corrective action program staff in mind. Concurrent sessions are geared to experience levels of corrective action program staff. Plenary sessions will address issues relevant to both newer and more experienced staff.

A draft agenda is available here . It will be updated regularly with more details on session presentations and confirmed speakers as they become available.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (ASTSWMO) has identified the opportunity to allow limited sponsorship opportunities as a way to further the work of the organization. The term sponsorship is understood to mean financial or other rewards received from non-governmental organizations with the intent to fund a particular activity or function of the organization. Please read our policy on sponsorship.

Meeting Registration

Registration is now closed due to reaching capacity.

ASTSWMO also reserves the right to close registration early if capacity is reached prior to April 29, 2024. ASTSWMO is not allowing on-site registration at the Workshop.

For State members requesting reimbursement: A confirmation of reimbursement will be sent separately by ASTSWMO staff by April 4, 2024. Please do not make any travel arrangements before you receive the reimbursement confirmation from ASTSWMO staff.

If you need additional assistance regarding registration, please contact TJ Gannon in the ASTSWMO office (202-640-1065 or kerryc@astswmo.org).

Reimbursement Opportunities

ASTSWMO has funding available to reimburse at least one (1) hazardous waste corrective action program staff per State.

Additional ASTSWMO funding may also be made available to allow States to send up to two corrective action program attendees. Priority for funding a second corrective action program attendee from the same State will be given to Corrective Action and Permitting Task Force members from the State and then State speakers. After these priorities, reimbursement for a second corrective action program staff will be made on a first come-first served basis following consideration of whether the registrant has received funding to past ASTSWMO meetings. In addition, there is funding for a limited number of State enforcement staff. ASTSWMO encourages State staff to predetermine which employees will travel with ASTSWMO funding prior to registering.

To receive ASTSWMO funding, State attendees must request reimbursement when registering for the meeting and funding must be approved and confirmed by ASTSWMO staff prior to travel arrangements being made.

The deadline for State program attendees to request reimbursement from ASTSWMO is April 4, 2024.

ASTSWMO staff will confirm reimbursement requests and provide additional travel policy and reimbursement instructions by April 4, 2024.

States may fund additional State attendees. If your State is planning to fund attendees, please contact Kerry Callahan in the ASTSWMO office at kerryc@astswmo.org or 202-640-1062 to discuss the number of attendees since the allowable number will depend on available meeting space.

If you have any questions about reimbursement and State participation, contact Kerry Callahan at kerryc@astswmo.org or 202-640-1062.
