2021 ASTSWMO Annual Meeting
October 28 @ 8:00 am - October 29 @ 12:00 pm
ASTSWMO is pleased to invite State and Territorial (State) members, as well as EPA Headquarters and Regional staff, other federal agency officials, and other guests to the 2021 ASTSWMO Annual Meeting on October 28 – 29, 2021. The meeting is being held at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, VA.
ASTSWMO will make several sessions available for virtual attendance, both live and recorded, using GoToWebinar, GoToMeeting, and other tools in an effort to reach our members who might not be able to travel. Sessions with virtual options are noted on the agenda.
This year’s meeting theme is Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG). Environmental considers factors such as waste and pollution, and sustainability; Social considerations can encompass working conditions, and local communities; factors under Governance include corporate leadership structure and practices. In addition to opening remarks and plenary sessions focused on the theme of the meeting, each of ASTSWMO’s program Subcommittees will be hosting breakout sessions and roundtables.
The current draft agenda for the meeting is available here and will be updated on a regular basis leading up to the event.
ASTSWMO is offering sponsorship opportunities at the 2021 Annual Meeting. If you are interested in sponsoring a portion of the Annual Meeting such as a refreshment break, please contact Dania Rodriguez, ASTSWMO Executive Director, at email@example.com.
For more details on Sponsorship, please read our Sponsorship Policy.
All attendees – in-person and virtual – must register for the Annual Meeting by September 30, 2021. There will be no on-site registration. ASTSWMO is not charging a registration fee for the meeting.
Virtual attendees will receive additional instructions from ASTSWMO staff for how to participate in each of your selected sessions in the weeks leading up to the event.
ASTSWMO reserves the right to close registration early if capacity is reached prior to September 30.
ASTSWMO has funding available to reimburse a limited number of State Brownfields, Federal Facilities, Hazardous Waste, Materials Management, Superfund, and Tanks members for their travel expenses, lodging, and meals.
Given the limited funding, ASTSWMO encourages State managers to predetermine which employees should request reimbursement from ASTSWMO for their travel prior to the employees submitting their registration. ASTSWMO staff will send an email approving reimbursement or a notice of being placed on the waitlist to all members requesting reimbursement. Do not make travel reservations until receiving reimbursement approval from ASTSWMO staff. All reimbursement approvals will be made by ASTSWMO staff in coordination with the program Subcommittees.
Some ASTSWMO programs will have a cap on the total reimbursement amount per traveler that will vary by program. The reimbursement caps per traveler for each program will be confirmed by ASTSWMO staff in the reimbursement confirmation e-mails if applicable.
After the plenary sessions, reimbursed attendees are expected to attend the program session(s) related to their funding source. For example, Hazardous Waste-funded attendees are expected to attend the Hazardous Waste program session(s).
ASTSWMO’s current travel and reimbursement policies and procedures are located on our website’s Travel and Reimbursement page. Please review these policies before registering for the meeting; they have changed recently and may be different from others you are used to using.
For questions regarding reimbursement for a specific program, please contact the appropriate ASTSWMO staff person (https://astswmo.org/staff/).
For questions regarding ASTSWMO travel policies and procedures, please contact an ASTSWMO Staff member.
